Bird Flu Detected in Yogyakarta: Central Java

The Bird Flu virus has infected a number of chickens and several birds in Yogyakarta. This doesn’t mean you should immediately cancel your plans to travel to the wonderful city!.

The virus was first detected when 11 chickens had died suddenly in Gedongkuning, Kotagede which is located outside of the main centre of the city. It’s just a matter of being careful what you eat but I feel quite confident that restorans and warungs will be taking precautions in buying their fowl products.

If you had plans of visiting Pasar Ngasem, the bird market, then just be cautious. It is a great place to visit and I was there just recently.
