White Sandalwood Foundation: Bangli, Bali
I like to promote and inform of foundations and organisations that assist the poor in Indonesia and one that is helping those suffering psoriasis and other ailments.
Humanitarians Gede Mangun and Kadek Arminingsih are currently establishing a foundation for Bali’s most disadvantaged peoples as Trisha Sertori explains:
Hailing from central Bali’s Bangli regency, the two are sorely aware of the hardships faced by many people on a daily basis, such as Putu Malini and other sufferers of psoriasis in their Bangli community.
“It is so sad because everyone’s talking about Bali’s growing economy, but they don’t see what’s behind all this,” said Gede, indicated the streets of nearby Ubud.
“I get upset when I hear that poverty has been eradicated, because here they are. Look around,” he said.
The foundation under development is to be called Yayasan Cempaka Putih untuk Keluarga Miskin di Bangli (The White Sandalwood Foundation for Bangli’s Poor Families).
For those wishing to donate clothing, sunglasses, hats or money toward Putu and others like her.
Gede can be reached at 0818552669.
