Sea World Oceanarium – Ancol Dreamland: Jakarta, West Java

As I have mentioned before, most of my life I have lived by the sea and so anything associated with the oceans I enjoy visiting. One of these places is Sea World in Jakarta.

Sea World is one of the most modern and well maintained attractions Indonesia has to offer for tourists. There are fabulous displays of marine creatures, including sharks!. Visitors can enjoy the various displays of fish species from around the archipelago as well as walk through the underwater tunnel.

At Sea World you can view not only saltwater fish but also freshwater fish as the oceanarium is divided into two sections, one saltwater and the other freshwater making it easy for the visitor. In the freshwater sections you can see fish from South America, primitive cartilaginous fish, piranhas, electric eels, African fish, baby crocodiles and giant Robber Crabs. There is also a section where you can learn about the water ecosystems.

The saltwater section is great with a vast array of jellyfish, corals, miniature corals and even a coral reef on display. All the creatures seen in the oceans can virtually be seen at Sea World.

One interesting aspect of Sea World is the roomy theatre that screens sea-life films and are screened daily.

Open: Mon-Sat 8am-8pm, Sun & Hols 8am-8pm,
