New Railway Schedule: Java
State railway company PT KAI will introduce new schedules for Java starting Wednesday in response to complaints about delays. Sudarmo Ramadhan, PT KAI’s director of operations, said in Bandung on Monday the new schedules would only be for two economy-class trains and seven freight trains.
He said that under the new schedule, the Jayabaya Selatan train would no longer serve the Surabaya-Jakarta route because of falling passenger numbers as the article in the Jakarta Post explains.
The train, he said, will be moved to the Surabaya-Madiun route in East Java.
One of the seven freight trains that will see its schedule changed is the Sawunggalih train, serving the Pasar Senen-Kutoarjo route, Sudarmo said.
He said its departure time would be changed from 6 p.m. to 8:15 a.m.
“The old schedules no longer accommodates the needs of people as the schedules do not match real conditions in the field, where many sections of the railway tracks are already old. That’s why we are changing the schedules,” Sudarmo said.
