Maritime Museum: Jakarta, West Java
There are a multitude of museums in Jakarta and all well worth a visit. One such museum is the Maritime Museum, also known as Museum Bahari.
The Maritime Museum was once an old warehouse during the Dutch occupation of Indonesia and used to store spices etc. This fascinating museum charts the history of Indonesia and its relationship with the oceans and all done in a very easy chronological order.
Sea vessels are on display as well as other articles used by seafarers during Indonesia’s history. There is also an excellent collection of old fotos portraying life at sea and at port.
