Indonesian Cultural Park Meeting: Pontianak, West Kalimantan
West Kalimantan will host a national meeting on Indonesian cultural parks, from July 9 to 13, 2007. The cultural and art event will be participated in by representatives from 24 cultural parks throughout the country.
Each delegation will consist of 20 people including traditional artists, he said. West Kalimantan was appointed to be the host for the 2007 Meeting of Indonesia Cultural Parks based on a decision of last year`s meeting taking place in Palu, Central Sulawesi according to the Antara News report.
Agenda of the July meeting will include lectures by the Director General of Culture, Arts and Film, the Director of Arts, and local as well as national art experts.
The meeting will also be highlighted with traditional art performances and exhibitions such as theatres, music, dances and a painting exhibition.
“Each delegation will have to perform three art shows, except for West Kalimantan Province. As the host, West Kalimantan will perform five traditional art shows, including on Tanjidor traditional music,” Rusman Namsurie said.
The objectives of the meeting included an exchange of information and knowledge of each region`s traditional arts, he said.
