Fast Eddie’s: Jakarta, West Java

There may be a time when people are uncertain as to whether to go to an Italian or American pizza outlet to enjoy one. Some may opt for an Italian to enjoy a thin, tasty pizza while others might choose to eat the ones with various toppings on offer at an American pizza outlet.

With the opening of a restaurant called Fast Eddie’s Pizza & Subs, pizza-lovers in town now have just the right venue to enjoy pizzas, be they Italian or American. Indeed, people can also savor sandwiches with international or local taste.

“We serve a combination of Italian and American pizzas. They are thin pizzas with various toppings,” Fast Eddie’s team manager Agus Salim said recently.

The restaurant does not only serve pizzas but also sandwiches, starters, desserts and drinks.

Opened last February, Fast Eddie’s seems to have attracted customers who mostly want to taste pizzas with different flavors. The favorite, Agus said, is Grilled Chicken Delight.

It is a thin, crispy pizza with mozzarella cheese, grilled chicken, red and green peppers, sliced white onions and sweetcorn.
Guests may added grated Parmesan cheese, dry chili or Tabasco pepper sauce, depending on their preference.

Fast Eddie’s was designed as a fast-food restaurant. Visitors can order their pizzas and drinks at the service desk upon arrival, pay and get the drinks they want.

Then they wait for eight to 10 minutes for their pizza to be cooked.

“We sell high-quality pizza and service. Customers have to wait only 10 minutes at most. We won’t make them wait longer,” Agus said.

Among the pizzas on the list are Cheezy Cheese (shredded mozzarella cheese), Sweet Margherita (shredded mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes and garden fresh basil), Pepperoni Pepperoni (shredded mozzarella cheese plus 20 slices of beef pepperoni).

Pizza lovers can also try Aloha Hawaiian (shredded cheese, smoked beef ham and sweet pineapple cubes) or Chicken Carbonara (garlic Parmesan white cream sauce, shredded cheese, grilled chicken, crispy beef bacon, white onions and mushrooms).

Another choice could be Where’s the Beef (cheese, beef pepperoni, beef salami, beef sausage and smoked beef ham) or Super Duper Deluxe (mozzarella cheese, beef pepperoni, beef salami, beef sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, red and green peppers and white onions).

They all come in one size — 25 centimeters in diameter.

The pizzas, which can be cut into eight slices, are simply too much for one person. So, whoever goes to Fast Eddie’s should bring companions to help finish the food.

Another food option is sandwiches. There are several types such as Classic Deli Tuna, Eddie’s Italian Meatball, California Club, The New York Deli Sub and Philly Cheese Steak to name but some.
Those who wish to eat a sandwich with local flavor may order Chicken Curry, Beef Rendang, Black Pepper Beef or Ayam Panggang.

Visitors who do not want a complete meal can order french fries, chicken wings, mozzarella cheese sticks or, maybe, garlic cheese pizza bread.

The beverage list is quite impressive.

Visitors can order either hot or cold drinks. They are soft drinks, Iced Nescafe Cappuccino, Cappuccino Hot or, perhaps, Heineken Beer.

With its modern design, Fast Eddie’s uses the colors of the Italian flag, red, white and green. The colors are applied in the interior: green on the tables, white for the walls and red on the chairs.
“Pizza is an Italian food, so we put the Italian national colors in our restaurant,” said Agus.

In addition, the restaurant, designed by American culinary consultant Eddie Cordisco, offers free Wi-Fi to enable guests to access the Internet.

With a choice of food and drink, and Internet access, Fast Eddie’s could become the place to have a business discussion or simply to relax after work.
