Dive Komodo: Flores, East Nusa Tenggara
Some of the best diving in the world can be found across the Indonesian archipelago. The crystal clear waters affords superb views of pristine coral and stunning fish, some not seen in waters in the other parts of the world.
There are numerous dive operators and if you are in the area near the Komodo Islands, then Dive Komodo are the people to contact. They have all the facilities needed for fantastic diving and can even arrange accommodation at the Bajo Komodo Eco lodge nearby.
I was extremely impressed with their contribution to the Komodo National Park fund and also helping the people in the area. Well constructed alternative ecotourism. Here is what they say:
Komodo National Park Conservation Fund
PT Putri Naga Komodo (PT PNK) will start collecting contributions for a Conservation Fund from all visitors to Komodo National Park in the context of the Komodo Collaborative Management Initiative (KCMI) on May 1, 2006. All contributions to the Conservation Fund will be used to support nature conservation, local communities and tourism promotion.
The Komodo Collaborative Management Initiative (KCMI) is a partnership program between the KomodoNational Park authority, PT PNK, and the government of Manggarai Barat. The purpose of the Initiative is to make the Park financially self-supporting through contributions from eco-tourism.
It’s been quite some time since I was last down in the depths, so to speak, and I am eager to return to one of my favourite pastimes. Perhaps next time I am over in Flores then I will drop in for a professionally assisted dive!.
