Aussie Artist Drug Arrested in Bali

Wherever you travel in the world, you would have to be either nuts or just plain stupid to consider getting involved in drugs or even contemplating smoking the shit, and, especially in Bali.

The Bali police are red hot on the drugs situation and would in fact go to any lengths to secure a conviction. I’m not saying the man is innocent, but, for someone who has lived on the island for the last thirty years he surely knows the routine of what is what.

Here is a small article that appeared in the ABC written by Geoff Thompson:

A 64-year-old Sydney man has been arrested in Bali and charged with possessing 4.1 grams of hashish that was found in his home.
Artist Ian Pieter Van Wieringen has lived in Bali for the last 30 years.

Journalists who saw his arrest on Thursday night have described him as angry and shocked.

The head of the narcotics division for the police in Gianyar, Putu Suartama, says 4.1 grams of hashish wrapped in aluminium foil was allegedly found in an orchid pot in Wieringen’s Ubud home.

The artist has been charged with possessing type one narcotics, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years.
