Adisucipto Airport: Yogyakarta, Central Java
Adisucipto International Airport is the main airport serving the Yogyakarta area and is located in the Sleman district, a twenty minute drive from the centre of Yogyakarta city.
The airport suffered a bad hammering during the recent earthquake and has since been rebuilt to a very modern terminal, albeit small compared to others in Java. All the services are available like money-changers and tour advisory groups, restaurants serving international and Indonesian food, an array of shops selling various handicrafts, and bars should you wish to quench your thirst with an amber fluid.
From the airport at Adisucipto there are flights to virtually every point on the archipelago of Indonesia, and, international flights to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
I have flown into and out of this airport countless times over the decades and really cannot fault the airport or its services. Okay, so it can get a tad hairy sometimes during the wet season, but the airport emergency services are some of the best in Java!.
